Koh Panyi - Sea Gypsy Island

Koh Panyi, also known as Ban Koh Panyi or the sea gypsy village, is a small island built on stilts. To its rear is a giant monolithic limestone rock. When you are touring the James Bond island, you can stop by at the Sea Gypsy Island for lunch and shopping. You will find some good sea food restaurants here. You can collect handicraft items and souvenirs from the local shops. During lunch time this island bustles with tourists. However, in the late afternoon and evening, it becomes a quiet and peaceful village.

The inhabitants of Koh Panyi are essentially Muslim fishermen. The name sea gypsy is thus a misnomer.
