BTS Sky Train

Bangkok Mass Transit System, known as the BTS Skytrain, is an elevated metro railway system.

The Sky Train covers 23 stations and operates on two routes, namely -

1. the Sukhumvit Line, and
2. the Silom Line

The BTS Skytrain covers most of central Bangkok that includes most commercial, residential and tourist areas. The trains run daily between 6:00 am and 12:00 midnight, with frequent service that increases during rush hours. The Sukhumvit line runs north, terminating at Mo Chit and east, terminating at On Nut. The Silom line runs through the central business district, terminating at the National Stadium. The lines interchange at the Siam station.

The BTS Sky Train is a good & reliable means of community within the city. Each train is capable of carrying a high 1000 passengers, so getting a seat in the train will not be a problem even during peak hours.

Ticket & Train Fare

The train fare is based on distance travelled.

• Single journey tickets are priced at 10 to 40 baht, based on distance, and are available at ticket machines located in every station.
• Stored value tickets are available for purchase or refill at any ticket office located in the station. The value of the ticket is based on the distance of each journey.
• Sky cards are available at 200 baht plus a 30 baht deposit. The deposit is refundable at station offices. Minimum refill amount is 100 baht. Each ticket contains a total value of not over 2000 baht including the deposit, and may be used for up to 18 months.
• 30 Day Adult Pass is also available. For this there is no deposit. However, the pass is non-refundable.
• Adult 10Trip Pass - 250 baht, @25 baht per trip, irrespective of distance travelled.
• Adult 15Trip Pass - 300 baht, @20 baht per trip, irrespective of distance travelled.
• Adult 30Trip Pass - 540 baht, @18 baht per trip, irrespective of distance travelled.
• One day tourist pass - Unlimited trips for 1 day for only 100 baht.
• Three day tourist pass - Unlimited trips for 3 days for only 280 baht.
